National Government

The U.S. Government’s Official Web Portal – USA.gov is an interagency initiative administered by the Federal Citizen Information Center, a division of the U.S. General Services Administration’s Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies. It got its start when Internet entrepreneur Eric Brewer, whose early research was funded by the Department of Defense, offered to donate a powerful search engine to government. That gift helped accelerate the government’s earlier work to create a government-wide portal.
The Library of Congress – The Library of Congress is the nation’s oldest federal cultural institution and serves as the research arm of Congress. It is also the largest library in the world, with millions of books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.
The United States House of Representatives – As per the Constitution, the U.S. House of Representatives makes and passes federal laws. The House is one of Congress’s two chambers (the other is the U.S. Senate), and part of the federal government’s legislative branch. The number of voting representatives in the House is fixed by law at no more than 435, proportionally representing the population of the 50 states.

Mineral Law

Louisiana Department of Natural Resources – DNR is one of twenty departments under the executive branch of state government. The executive officer of DNR is the Secretary, who is appointed by the Governor. Along with the Office of the Secretary there are three primary offices of the department. They are the Office of Coastal Restoration and Management, the Office of Conservation, and the Office of Mineral Resources.
Louisiana Office of Conservation – The Office of Conservation has primary statutory responsibility for regulation and conservation of oil, gas, lignite, and other natural resources. Among its functions are well permitting, pooling and unitization, and regulation of site abandonment and restoration.
Bureau of Ocean Energy Management – (BOEM) The Bureau of Ocean Energy Managment is the agency within the Department of the Interior with primary responsibility for managing oil and gas leasing on the Outer Continental Shelf in waters adjacent to Louisiana (and other coastal states).
Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement – (BSEE) The Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement is the agency within the Department of Interior with primary responsibility for regulating the safety and envirnomental effects of oil and gas activities on the Outer Continental Shelf.
Center for American and International Law – The Center for American and International Law is a nonprofit institution dedicated to the continuing education of lawyers and law enforcement officials .Its Institute for Energy Law (IEL) provides advanced education for lawyers and other professionals in the energy industry.
Energy and Mineral Law Foundation – A non-profit educational organization providing information on legal issues related to the energy and mineral industry through workshops, specialty programs, publications and electronic information.
Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation – Organized in 1955 as a non-profit Colorado corporation, the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation is an educational organization dedicated to providing scholarly research of the laws and issues affecting domestic and international mineral and water resources.
Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission – The Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission is a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment.
